Child Safety Standards
Tier - Social app for gamers, published by Why Not Studio, has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards explain how we prohibit, prevent, detect and respond to CSAE on our platform.
1. Our commitment
Tier - Social app for gamers (operated by Why Not Studio) is committed to keeping minors safe. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards apply to every user, every piece of content, and every feature of the app.
Tier is intended for people aged 13 and over (16 in some EU jurisdictions depending on local law). The app is not directed at children under that age.
2. What is strictly prohibited
The following are forbidden on Tier and are removed without notice, with the account permanently banned and reported to the authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, drawing, text or link depicting or describing the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor.
- Sexualization of minors — sexual, suggestive or exploitative content involving anyone under 18, real or fictional.
- Grooming — any attempt to contact, befriend or manipulate a minor for sexual purposes.
- Sextortion — threatening to share intimate content of a minor to obtain more content, money or other gain.
- Trafficking or solicitation — advertising, requesting or facilitating CSAE in any form.
- Links or pointers to off-platform CSAE material or services.
Why: protecting children is a non-negotiable legal and moral obligation that overrides every other consideration on the platform.
3. How we prevent and detect CSAE
- Published rules: CSAE is explicitly banned in these Child Safety Standards and in our Community Guidelines.
- Automated moderation: user-generated text (reviews, comments, lists, profiles) is screened in real time by our multilingual content-moderation engine, which blocks and flags prohibited content before and after it is posted.
- Human review: flagged and reported content is reviewed by our team, which can remove content and ban accounts.
- Age policy: Tier is 13+ and contains no sexual content of any kind, regardless of the age of the people involved.
4. How to report CSAE
In the app, any user can report content directly:
- On a comment: long-press → "Report".
- On a review, list or profile: "⋯ → Report" menu.
- Choose a reason (e.g. sexual content involving a minor) and add details.
By email, you can always reach our child-safety point of contact at contact@yourtier.com with "CHILD SAFETY" in the subject line. These reports are treated as the highest priority.
You can also report CSAE directly to the authorities: in Belgium to Child Focus (116 000) or the federal police, and in the United States to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.
5. How we respond
When we identify CSAE, we:
- Remove the content immediately.
- Permanently ban the account(s) responsible; ban evasion leads to a further permanent ban.
- Preserve the relevant evidence as required by law.
- Report to the competent authorities (in Belgium, Child Focus and/or the federal police; for US-related material, the NCMEC CyberTipline) and cooperate with law-enforcement requests.
6. Legal compliance
Why Not Studio is established in Belgium. We comply with applicable child-safety laws, including Belgian law and the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065), and we cooperate with competent authorities on CSAE matters. These standards complement our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.
